Subject: Earth Day Books for Kids

_______________________________________________________

Hi there,

This Sunday is Earth Day and last week we gave you some
ideas for celebrating with your child. This week we wanted
to pass on a few Earth Day books to help teach your child why
we celebrate the holiday.

For your pre-school to 1st grade aged child, “I Love Our
Earth” is a great read-aloud, picture book.

“Earth Day Hooray!” is a tale of three friends who want to
help clean up a neighborhood park. In order to pay for the
flowers and plants, the children need to find a way to raise the
money and they choose to continue their Earth friendly efforts
by holding an aluminum can drive. Great for children ages 6-9.

Teaching children the benefits of recycling is the goal of
“Recycle - A Handbook for Kids.” Geared toward children
ages 8-10, this book uses cartoon illustrations along with text
to teach children how fun and necessary recycling is.

For older children still in grade school, “Let’s Get Ready for
Earth Day”, tells one young boy’s story about what his class
does in order to get ready for the holiday.

Reading together is a wonderful way to help your children
prepare for the future, but add teaching them the importance of
taking care of our plant at the same time and you’re sure to
have some fun and spark a few ideas of your own.
